Dear Net Literacy,

In behalf of the Near Eastside Community Organization, our many partners, our community's leadership, and our 40,000 residents, thank you for strengthening the Near Eastside community by developing and building this community website for us.

This community portal ties the Near Eastside's rich past to our present, and describes our exciting vision for our future. For the first time, the Near Eastside's community resources are consolidated in one website, our community's challenges and solutions to those challenges are outlined, and very importantly, you have included a section encouraging community members and especially our youth to become involved in this process that is transforming the Near Eastside.

We appreciate that dozens of Net Literacy student volunteers collaborated together on this project. Student volunteers learned about the Near Eastside, some of the many nonprofits and organizations that that give strength to the Near Eastside, how to design and build a website, content management, video interviewing, video editing, and the job skills that were necessary to vision, develop, and build this website in during a fast-paced 96 hour summer program. NESCO is proud of the job that you did, and appreciates Net Literacy helping us pull together many Near Eastside leaders and resources to build a comprehensive website that will be enjoyed and used by so many residents. But most importantly, NESCO is proud of the youth empowered team effort of student volunteers that enabled our dream of a community website to become a reality. Thank you, Net Literacy!

While dozens of students from five schools participated in this project, I want to give special recognition to eight students from Arlington High School and Arsenal Technical High School. In behalf of NESCO, a special thanks goes to Eric Coleman, Josh Rafail, Rose Hooper, Adolphis Goodwin, Chakayla Winston, Lashae Wooden, and Anthony Hampton.

Net Literacy is a youth empowered nonprofit that uses technology to enable middle school, high school, and college students to become agents of change and social activists, engaging in youth philanthropy to help promote digital inclusion. Thank you Net Literacy, for helping to make a difference in the Near Eastside.

Sincerely,

Chuck Coleman
President
